"Because I'm still in love with you, I want to see you dance again"

The new year hasn't arrived in my little, smoke-filled world yet.

Indeed, the fog still hugs my mind like a familiar, itchy winter coat. Cumulus clouds (my personal, ever-present storm clouds) do the back stroke across my sky, blocking out the much-needed touch of the sun's warm hands- a touch I haven't experienced fully for far too long.

The stroke of midnight on the first of the year has never wiped the past year's slate clean for me as it seems to for others. Yes, the ball has dropped. Yes, officially, 2008 is over (dead, deceased, expired, going, going, gone. Good riddance!)

But, just because the calendar has replaced the eight with a nine doesn't mean anything. Nothing really has changed. Yet.

Melancholy analogies aside, I do have two resolutions to apply to my life right now.

As I said at the beginning of last year, I am again determined to hope for the best; I am determined to keep my mug as close to full as I can. I hope this resolution works out better this year.

Secondly, I want to be ambitious. There are so many worlds I wish to explore, so many people I want to be, and so many words aching to jump out of me.

'Nuff said. Happy 2009 to all of you wonderful people.

Mood:
contemplative contemplative
Beats:
Neil Young

I think you've made noticeable progress in your quest to be more hopeful. Keep at it. :-)

All the best this year, Sam. One of my favorite sayings is "There's a reason the front windshield is bigger than the rear-view mirror." Sure, there are things you'd like to get rid of, but it's good to keep them there to learn from and see how far you've really come.

Seems like you have a nice open road ahead of you. Enjoy the drive!

P.S. Neil Young is the man, and "Harvest Moon" is an awesome song. The guitar chords randomly get stuck in my head sometimes.

And finally...Go Flyers and Eagles!
